CAM Basketball Season Comes to a Close

On Thursday, February 14th, the CAM Boys Basketball team played their first round of postseason games against the Earlham Cardinals. Earlham was a very good basketball team who came into the game with a record of 16-5. The Cougars battled hard for all four quarters but fell by a final score of 60-35. Freshman, Lane Spieker, led the Cougars in points with nine, while Nathan Hensley added seven as well. Isaac Bower led CAM in rebounds with eight, along with Jacob Holste, who had three. The Cougars will end the season with a final record of 7-14.

CAM BBB

On Monday, February 4th, the CAM Boys Basketball team traveled to Mondamin to play the West Harrison Hawkeyes. The first half started out great for the Cougars as they lead 30-24, thanks to a Nate Hensley half-court shot at the buzzer. West Harrison came out confident as they outscored CAM by 15 in the third quarter. The Cougars reached within 4, multiple times throughout the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Hawkeyes beat the Cougars 66-58. Lane Spieker led the team in points with 16, while Nate Hensley had 11 as well. Isaac Bower led the Cougars in rebounds with six along with Colby Rich who had five. CAM will finish 6-10 in the conference with one more regular season game.


CAM Looking Ahead To Post Season

On Friday, February 8th, CAM faced Nodaway Valley in their final regular season game. The Wolverines were on fire to start the game as they outscored the Cougars 24-5 in the first quarter. CAM found some breathing room in the second and fourth quarter as they scored 28 of their 40. The Cougars were unable to cut into the deficit, as Nodaway Valley went on to win 40-70. Jacob Holste led CAM in scoring with 12 points and along with Nate Hensley and Ben Tibken who had six apiece. Leading rebounder was Isaac Bower with six and eight points. CAM Is Red Hot On Senior Night

On Friday, February 1st, the CAM Boys Basketball team competed against the Wildcats of Glidden-Ralston. The first half started out very slow for both teams, as the score at halftime was 13-14 in favor of Glidden-Ralston. After a few plays into the second half, the Cougars finally found their groove and got the ball rolling. They outscored the Wildcats 20-12 in the third quarter. The final score ended up being 53-32, thanks to a late 3-pointer by Matthew Harris to put the Cougars up by 21. Nate Hensley was the leading scorer with 12 points, while Ben Tibken had 10. Leading rebounder was Isaac Bower, who had seven boards, and Jacob Holste who had five. On Monday, January 28th, the Cougars played the Spartans in a Rolling Valley conference match-up. CAM battled hard throughout the half as they only trailed by eight heading into the second half. The second half started out rough for the Cougars, as the Spartans went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter. CAM couldn’t claw their way back, and the final score ended up being 50-74. DeShawn Carr led the team in scoring with 11 points and one steal. Jacob Holste led the team in rebounds with six, along with Ben Tibken and Isaac Bower who had 3. CAM Boys Basketball Starts the Season

On Monday, November 19th, the CAM Boys Basketball team played the Griswold Tigers in a pride scrimmage. The Cougars started and ended strong as CAM beat Griswold by a score of 54-23. Jacob Holste lead the team with 17 points and seven rebounds. Ben Tibken had 11 points and five rebounds, while Nate Hensley had nine points and four rebounds. Leading the team in steals and assists was DeShawn Carr with four apiece. The Cougars took a break for Thanksgiving weekend but will be playing on November 30th against Boyer Valley.

CAM Making Some Improvements

Due to impending weather, the game that was scheduled for Friday, January 18th, was moved to the 17th. The Cougars played an undefeated Ar-We-Va as they fell 64-51. CAM lost the first meeting with Ar-We-Va by 35 so this was a much improved game as the Cougars gave the Rockets everything they could handle. Top scorer of the night was Jacob Holste with 13 points and six rebounds. Nathan Hensley led CAM with seven rebounds along with Isaac Bower who had five. The Cougars will drop to 5-8 while being 5-7 in the conference.

CAM Hangs On to a Win At Home

On Friday, January 25th, CAM hosted the Chargers of AC-GC for a non-conference game. It was all Cougars for the first three quarters as CAM lead by double digits for a majority of the game. It was in the fourth quarter that the Chargers got the Cougars into foul trouble, which leads to many free throws. AC-GC went on a 10-0 run late in the fourth quarter to bring the game within three. CAM was able to prevail, as they went on to win 59-56. Jacob Holste was the leading scorer as he had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Leading the team in rebounds was Isaac Bower with eight, followed by Ben Tibken with five. The Cougars improve to 6-8 overall and will play Audubon on Thursday, January 31st, and Glidden-Ralston on February 1st. Come out and support CAM basketball!

CAM’s Defense Dominates the Rockets

On Tuesday, November 27, the CAM Boys Basketball team traveled to Paton Churdan to take on the Rockets. The Cougars dominated all four quarters, beating the Rockets by a score of 55-36. The CAM defense was a key part in the Cougars’ success, as they held Paton Churdan to only 12 points in the first half. The Cougars had 13 steals and 15 defensive rebounds total throughout the game. Leading the way in scoring and rebounding was Jacob Holste with 16 points and six total rebounds. Other noticeable statistics were Ben Tibken with 13 points and five rebounds, Isaac Bower with eight points and five rebounds, and DeShawn Carr with seven points and five rebounds. It was a great night for the CAM Boys Basketball team as they start the season 1-0.

CAM Vs. Boyer Valley

On Friday, November 30, the Cougars hosted the Bulldogs of Boyer Valley in their first home game. It was a tight game going back and forth for all four quarters. The final score ended up being 62-72 in favor of the Bulldogs. CAM falls to 1-1 in the conference with that loss. Jacob Holste and Ethan Arp both led the team with 15 points each. Ben Tibken and Lane Spieker also took the most rebounds, with six each. The Cougars will look to improve next week as they take on the Rockets from Ar-We-Va, on December 7 at 7:30pm, for another conference game at Ar-We-Va.

Cougars Battle in Tough Losses

The boys’ basketball team took on the Coon-Rapids Bayard Crusaders on Tuesday, December 4th. The Cougars led throughout the first half as the score was 26-21. CAM played hard but lost in the final seconds. The Crusaders scored on a late shot causing the Cougars to start fouling. The final score ended up being 43-48 in favor of the Crusaders. Jacob Holste, cougar team scoring leader, had 11 points and four total rebounds. Nate Hensley had eight points and four rebounds, while Colby Rich had seven points and one block. On Friday, December 7th, CAM played the Ar-We-Va Rockets at home. The Rockets lead the way throughout the game and kept it there as the ending score was 41-76. Jacob Holste lead the team in scoring with 12 points and four rebounds. Freshman, Lane Spieker, and Colby Rich each had five points apiece. Catch the Cougars in a three-game stretch for the last week of 2018 as they play East Mills on December 17th, Woodbine on December 18th, and Glidden-Ralston on December 21st.


CAM Competes in Pink Out

The Cougars played the first of two games against Exira-EHK on Tuesday, December 11th. The Cougars were able to keep the score within two, 34-32, to go into halftime. A rough third quarter for CAM was able to give the Spartans some breathing room. The final score wound up being 52-67 in favor of Exira-EHK. Leading the Cougars in scoring was Jacob Holste with 11 points and six rebounds. DeShawn Carr and Ben Tibken had nine points each along with Isaac Bower and Ethan Arp, each dishing seven points apiece. The CAM boys basketball team will stay at home for a match-up against the Wildcats of Glidden-Ralston on Friday, December 21st.

On Friday, January 4th, the CAM Boys Basketball team played the West Harrison Hawkeyes in their final first go-around of the Rolling Valley Conference. The Cougars came out with a Victory by a score of 45-38. Jacob Holste led the team with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Ben Tibken and Isaac Bower also had eight rebounds apiece. Colby Rich was the next highest scorer with eight points while Nate Hensley and Lane Spieker had seven. The Cougars improve to 3-6 on the season while also being 3-5 in the conference. The CAM Boys Basketball team will play the Boyer Valley Bulldogs on Friday, January 11th at Boyer Valley.

Starting Off the New Year Right

Cougars Firing on all Cylinders

On Tuesday, January 9th, the CAM Boys Basketball team struck their third win in a row. This win came over a talented Paton Churdan team by a score of 64-34. The first half was very slow for the Cougars as they only scored 22 points. The second half was a different story, however, as CAM almost doubled the first half points with 42. DeShawn Carr leads the team in points with 15, along with Jacob Holste who had 12 points. Nate Hensley and Colby Rich were all over the ‘boards’ as they had a combined total of 16 rebounds, which was half of the team’s total. The Cougars are up to 4-6 on the season and 4-5 in the conference.


Heartbreak in Overtime

On Friday, January 11, the CAM Cougars boys basketball team traveled up to Dunlap to take on the Boyer Valley Bulldogs. The Cougars found their way battling back multiple times throughout the game and even had a chance to win at the end. Even throughout overtime, CAM found themselves having to score in different ways due to their lack in height. The final score ended up being 53-58. Jacob Holste led the team in points with 20, which is his career high, and six rebounds. Holste also went six for seven in three-point attempts. Nate Hensley also had 11 points, while DeShawn Carr and Ben Tibken both had six apiece. After the loss, the boys drop to 4-7 on the season with a 4-6 conference record. The next game will be on Friday, January 18th, against the Ar-We-Va Rockets.
