On Saturday August 29th, bright and early, the CAM Cougar volleyball girls traveled to Avoca for their first tournament of the season. They started off strong with two wins over Earlham; 21-14 and 21-19, which was their first win of the season. After the win over Earlham, they played AHSTW and had to go into three sets with them, but in the end they pulled off the win. They lost the first game in a very close match; 22-20, the next two sets were wins for them and the scores were as follows: 21-13 and 16-14. The last game of the day they played a very outstanding Denison team, but they were able to manage to stick with them pretty well. Coach Jenna Maiers was very pleased with how well they played all morning, but was especially happy how well they played against a 3A school who also had some very tall girls. This week they have an extremely busy schedule with an away game on Tuesday at East Union with the freshman team playing at 6:00 with JV and Varsity following, Thursday a triangular at home against Audubon and Exira-EHK starting at 5:00, and a tournament on Saturday at Coon Rapids-Bayard.
