The Cougar golfers traveled to the Atlantic Golf and Country Club to participate in the Rolling Valley Conference meet. Ben Tibken ended the tournament as the runner-up medalist with a score of 76. He finished 4 strokes behind the medalist, Ev Carroll from Exira-EHK. The team finished in second with 357 behind Exira-EHK who finished with a score of 322. All-Conference golfers for the boys included 1st Team: Ben Tibken; and 2nd Team: Ethan Arp, Tanner Williamson, and Logan Lawrence. The rest of the scores for the boys from Monday included: Logan Lawrence (90), Tanner Williamson (93), Ethan Arp (97), Mitchell Williamson (99), and Peyton Jessen (109). As for the girls, Sammi finished the tournament as the medalist with a score of 89. The team finished in third place for the tournament with a 444, but they were conference champions during the regular season. All-Conference honors for the girls included 1st Team: Sammi Jahde; and 2nd Team: Halie Giegerich. The rest of the scores from Monday included: Halee Nichols (117), Sidney Aupperle (119), and Halie Giegerich (119).
The boys golf team traveled to Greenfield on Thursday, May 2nd. The team ended up in 2nd place behind Pleasantville by 2 strokes. Ben Tibken had the low score of the day with a 77. Other scores from the team were Ethan Arp (93), Best Shot - Tanner Williamson and Logan Lawrence (75), and Better Ball - Dietrich Herzberg and Peyton Jessen (105). On Thursday, the girls hosted a meet with some of the conference teams where Sammi Jahde was the medalist with a 45. The girls traveled to 5x80 on Friday, May 3rd, where Jahde was the runner-up with a 47. The team won the meet with a score of 217.
The CAM girls golf season has been going very well this year. This past week our golfers went to Atlantic and played a round that ended in a team score of 204! The individual scores were Sammi Jahde won the meet with a 40, Halee Nichols scoring a 54, Maddie Holtz and Halie Giegerich bringing it in with a 55, while Sidney Aupperle and Mercedes Harris both shot a 56. We asked Sammi about the season and she said “I am really proud of all my teammates and all the hard work they have been putting in. We have been wanting to win a conference meet and beat Boyer Valley for a long time and this year we finally were able to do it. I know if we keep working hard and putting in work we will be able to keep winning conference meets.”
On April 9th, the girl’s golf team traveled to Avoca where the team placed 1st overall. Sammi Jahde shot a 43, and placed 1st individually! Halie Giegerich shot a 55, Halee Nichols a 59, Mercedes Harris a 60, and Sidney Aupperle finished with a 61. The boy’s golf team also traveled to Avoca, Tuesday, April 9th, placing 2nd. Ben Tibken placed 2nd individually with a score of 42. Logan Lawrence finished with a 48, Tanner Williamson a 50, Ethan Arp and Peyton Jessen both completed the course with 52, and Mitchell Williamson finished with 54 strokes. Congratulations to both the girls and boys golf teams!
The golf team has picked up their season and has a busy schedule coming up. The golfers traveled to Corning on Friday, April 5th to golf against Southwest Valley. The boys won with a score of 194 and Southwest Valley did not have a team score. Ben Tibken was the medalist with a 42. The runner-up medalists was Conner Shipley who shot a 45. The girls team won with a score of 211. Sammi Jahde was the medalist with a score of 44 and Sidney Aupperle was the runner-up medalist with a 50. The boys hosted their first tournament of the year, the Dale Erickson Invitational. The boys team finished in 6th place with a team score of 378.
