Exits are via the main doors back into Commons or through the scene dock to outside of the building.
No equipment or personal belongings to left left in fire lanes (red areas) - including the lanes through the scene dock.
Cables crossing the fire lane must be fed through a cable trap/ramp.
All equipment is regularly tested and checked.
When rigging lights all cables should be visually checked for damage to both cables and connectors.
Power leads should be fitted to lighting fixtures first, and then to the hoist-mounted power supply or floor power feed.
Power leads should be removed from the power supply before being removed from the light fixture.
If you see any possible faults on cables or other equipment, please report to a TD.
Any portable electrical equipment brought into the studio will need testing by a TD before use.
A maximum of three ‘single’ Selecon colour-changing lights to be connected to one floor power feed at one time.
A maximum of one ‘double’ and one ‘single’ Selecon colour-changing light to be connected to one floor power feed at one time.
Any cables running across fire lanes or areas of high traffic must be in cable traps.
There is danger of electrocution when in physical contact with hoists from adjacent rows. Please do not touch hoists from adjacent rows.
Hoists are tested regularly and should not to be used by students without supervision.
Lights must be fixed to the hoist using all three methods provided: spigot pin, spigot screw and cable safety bond.
Do not stand directly below any light fixture or hoist being adjusted.
Lights must be checked for secure fixing of barn doors and colour filter whenever attached, removed or adjusted on the hoist(s).
Lights must be fitted so that cables (power and DMX) are not stretched, allowing for subsequent pan and tilt adjustment.
Cables crossing red fire lanes must be in a cable trap.
Cables on the floor to be tidied away from people as much as possible.
Camera cables can be slippy if stood on - take care.
Any liquid spilt on floor can make it very slippy (and damage the painted floor surface).
NO food or drink in studios (or any part of the Studio areas, edits suites etc).
Exceptions: Food or drink can be use on set as part of the action or in a capped water bottle which cannot spill.
Heavy equipment.
Look carefully when moving so you don’t bang into people, set or other equipment.
Peds contain pressurised nitrogen and need balancing. They can be dangerous if the load is changed. If you find a ped that has lost pressure please notify one of the Technical team.
Don’t use or play with equipment you haven’t been trained on.
No lone working - you shouldn’t work in the studios on your own (or without a TD present).
Manual handling - be aware that pieces of set, boxes of camera kit etc can be heavy and awkward to move.
Use of ladders only under supervision.
No student access to mezzanine levels.
