Once you have created your composition (HDTV 1080 25p) and imported the .psd layers into your composition it is best to work in '2 view' so that you can clearly see what movements you are creating in 3D space from a front active camera view and from above as the top view.
Change the view option to 2 views, horizontal.
This will change your display to show to windows of your image.
At this point you are viewing both windows from front on, viewing the whole image.
We want to be able to see the layers as they move in 3D space, so we need to be able to see the layers from above.
In order to do this you should change one of your windows to view from above, as if you are looking down on the space and image.
Click on one of the windows to select it (eg. left in the example) and change Active Camera to Top
You need to set the layers as 3D in your composition.
This is done by clicking on the cube icon for each of the chosen layers.
If you do not see the option to create 3D layers, click on Mode/Toggle to change the mode options
When you look at the Top view window you should now see a line and markers for the layer selected.
Blue is the Z axis (forwards/backwards movement)
Red is the X axis (side movement)
Green is the Y axis (up down movement
These are used to move the layers in 3D space
Start with positioning the background layer......... This can be done by clicking on the colour arrows in the Top view window or using the Transform controls for position within the layer properties.
The background layer can be moved backwards (Z axis) to appear further away with the soldiers being in in the foreground.
Remember to re-scale your images to fit the scene.
