The main difference between the RSC2 and the Ronin S is that this model folds away into a smaller space.
There is a hinge at the top of the handle with a locking lever.
Other new features are the individual locks for the motors. For the most part these are kept in the off position.
What's in the box:
Gimbal
Extended grip tripod
USB cable (for charging)
Base plate
Quick release/riser plate
(Use this image to help you place the gimbal back into the case when you finish to get it in the correct position.)
The first 16 minutes of this video is a clear guide on how to assemble and balance the camera.
Once set up, this link will take you through the menu display
Release the lock above the handle and unfold the gimbal until it clicks into position.
Lock the lever once in position.
(To pack away, unlock and pull the gimbal arm back to folded position. )
Screw the extended grip tripod to the base of the gimbal.
Open the tripod to stand the gimbal on a flat surface/desk ready to set up.
Unlock Tilt, Roll & Pan locks
Unfold axis arms into start position (with the Ronin logo facing the correct way)
Lock Tilt, Roll & Pan again
Prepare camera for mounting - Insert battery, SD card, attach lens and remove lens cap
Attach the quick release/riser to the camera base (so arrows facing lens direction)
Unlock the base plate
Attach the base plate sliding sideways onto the quick release plate, with the lock lever at camera body end so that the lens sits over the length of base plate.
Be careful not to over tighten the levers when locking into position.
To remove the quick release plate, press the silver button whilst removing the plate
Attach camera to gimbal
Unlock Tilt axis (right side of camera)
Position the camera facing upwards and loosen the silver screw
Move the slider along the axis until the camera holds its position facing upwards.
Tighten silver screw once balance point found.
(if you are struggling to find this balance point, move onto the next step and come back to this axis)
Release the lock lever on the gimbal (the left side of the camera)
Now slide base plate to correct position for camera to balance correctly in original horizontal position.
Once happy with the balance, and the camera doesn’t move out of position, lock Tilt levers.
Unlock Roll lever and loosen roll silver screw
Adjust along slider until camera balances.
Unlock Pan lever (right side), loosen silver screw (left side)
Tilt gimbal to the side and adjust axis so that camera hols position and doesn’t tilt or spin off it's centre point.
Once you have set up the gimbal and before you balance test it, power on the gimbal.
Install DJI app onto your smart phone.
If the app is not available via the Apple or Play Store, then go to the DJI website to download the app - https://www.dji.com/uk/downloads/djiapp/dji-ronin
Select the gimbal type.
Select device.
If prompted for a password, enter: 12345678
Select Motor Parameters.
Make sure the gimbal is stood on a flat surface and you are not touching the gimbal or camera whilst the test is carried out.
The Basic test settings should be sufficient, press AutoTune to start the test.
Select Balance Test
Before you start the test, hold the gimbal between 15-45 degrees. The app shows you on the display what the current angle is.
Once the balance test is complete, you will be see the results. The three settings should read Excellent.
If you get a result that the balance needs resettting, go back to the axis it is referring to and rebalance that axis before repeating balance test again.
To navigate through the menu system, use the scroll wheel to navigate and select the menu items, and the arrow to return to previous page.
If the gimbal does not respond how you expect, check what mode you are in:
PF = Pan Follow (most common mode)
PTF = Pan Tilt Follow
FPV = Pan Tilt Roll Follow
Press and hold trigger button to hold lens in a specific position which does not move when you move the handle
This video (at 27:22) takes you through the different modes.
To reset the gimbal with the camera to it's starting position facing forwards, double press the trigger button on the front of the handle.
Press and hold this button whilst operating the gimbal when you want the camera to continue facing forwards during a movement.
