This page takes you through the setup for using the Zoom Q8 camera. This camera has fixed lens (F.20/16.6mm) and at it's widest settings will give a very wide (160 degree) field of view.
Although most of the video settings are auto settings, you do get some additional manual control over the audio input settings. This is a great introductory camera if audio is your focus or you are working in limited spaces.
(The recommended tripod to use with this camera is the Manfrotto 290 Xtra)
What's in the box:

Quick tour of the camera body:
The battery inserts into the side panel of the camera body and should be charged whilst in the camera via a USB cable.
The SD card inserts into the slot at the bottom of the camera body.
There is also a thread for attaching the camera to a tripod. (The asset store has the Manfrotto 290 Xtra which is a good size tripod for this camera).
X/Y on-board mics.
This is attached to the arm of the camera and sits above body of the camera when in use. If you press the Push button on the side, you can collapse the mics to sit behind the camera body.
There is a dial behind the mics which controls the recording levels of the on-board mics.
The power On/Off button is on the side of the camera body (inside the display panel door)
At the back of the camera body are the inputs for 2 external XLR mics.
This is also where the USB socket is located for charging the camera battery.
There is also a headphone socket for monitoring the audio being recorded.
On board mics are triggered and set to record by pressing the L and R buttons on the side of the camera. A light red light appears next to the button L and R buttons to show they are active.
XLR external mics are triggered and set by pressing 1 and 2, and using the 1 and 2 dials to set the recording levels
The record button is located on the top of the camera body.
