My name is Rachel Battaglia and I am a nursing major. I have been invovled with the commiunity garden, and worked at the Marshburn Library, along with being the Events Intern at Center for Research in Science (CRIS).
My role has evolved over my three years at CRIS. I inherited the position from my good friend, Suzann Lee, and began as an in-person event planner. That quickly morphed into becoming a virtual events planner during the pandemic, and then I took on the role of the Design and Communication Intern, coordinating newsletters and creating graphics. I have been able to learn so much in this role!
I have enjoyed learning so much about science, research and their intersection with religion. I especially enjoyed listening to the seminars and presentations on bioethics and the "What is Human?" series. Along with this my biggest takeaway has been how beneficial and beautiful diveristy of thought is. And how utterly important. I have seen such humility and open mindedness in the speakers and those I work with; I love listening and partaking in their conversations.
Lastly, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone I have had the opportunity to work alongside. Dr. Huang is an incredible supervisor and has taught me so much, most importantly the power of prayer. I am grateful that we were able to prayer throughout each event planning process. There are so many others I have worked alongside, and I am so grateful for their patience, persistence, and communcation. It has been a joy to work here!
