My home department is Engineering and Computer Science and I just started as a full-time faculty member last semester. I was here last Fall (2019) as Adjunct Faculty.
In Fall 2020, I taught CS120 (Intro to Computer Science I), ENGR310 (Discrete Simulation Modeling and Analysis), and ENGR420 (Decision and Risk Analysis). This semester, I am teaching CS120 (Intro to Computer Science I), ENGR271 (Advanced Math for Engineers), and ENGR340 (Digital Signal Processing).
My area of research is gait and posture (walking and standing). I became interested in it because I was on the track and field team in high school and college, and as a jumper, I ended up having a lot of problems with my joints. I want to be involved in research that helps people move because it is crucial for independence especially with advanced aging.
I honestly fell into Computer Science because of my passion for mathematics. As an applied mathematician, I ended up needing to use one computer language after another, and then I began to teach Computer Science classes. Computers allow for the processing of large data, so there are many problems that would take years to solve by hand that a computer can solve in seconds, minutes, or hours (depending on the size of the data).
I really enjoy the community at APU. Everyone is very kind and welcoming.
My favorite pastimes are reading and karaoke.
I stress bake, so during finals when everyone is busy, you should stop by for snickerdoodle cookies.
