Farewell CRIS Interns

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6.

After three years, we finally have to say goodbye to our wonderful CRIS interns who helped in many significant ways. Below are the reflection of their time working in CRIS and at APU. Congratuations on your graduation, Suzann and Adrieanna! You will be missed and we wish you all God's best!

What is your name, major and programs you have been involved in?

My name is Suzann Lee and I am a Kinesiology major with a Health Professions concentration. Looking back on my four years at APU, the Lord has given me opportunities to grow through leadership with the transitions office on campus as an Alpha Leader as well as an Alpha Coordinator. In this current academic year, God gave me the Spiritual Life Senator position in the Student Government Association, Spiritual Formation SALT, along with having the privilege of being the Events Intern in CRIS.

What is your role in CRIS?

A huge part of my role in CRIS is event planning. Whether it is for research symposiums, science and faith events, or facilitating ACSI science fairs at APU, I was able to help with all the details of putting events together. Not fully knowing what CRIS was all about, I applied for the job at the end of my first year and have been a part of the team ever since.

After being involved in what CRIS does, what is your biggest takeaway?

It has absolutely been a joy working with women who are passionate about Jesus above all else. Adrieanna, being a gentle, loving, and talented co-intern, and Dr. Louise Huang being a driven, caring, and steadfast leader, we have been a team that was able to pray, grow, and encourage one another in the Lord. We have been committed to integrate faith with science to help equip a generation of future scientists (or STEM workers) who are in awe of God. Through my time at CRIS, I have learned what it means to honor the Lord in the workplace and to be diligent in all that we do. I am forever grateful for this team and will never forget the three years spent in this office.

What is your name, major and programs you are involved in?

My name is Adrieanna Neal and I am a Graphic Design major with an Art minor. During my time at APU, I have had the opportunity to be an Ambassador during my first year, and I was a part of the APU step team Umoja during my first three years. In my third year, I had the opportunity to be a part of the last semester of the High Sierra program in Bass Lake, which was an extreme blessing and learning experience from God. It increased my love for nature, and it definitely changed my perspective on life.

What is your role in CRIS?

I am the Design and Communication Intern in CRIS. My main role is to create the monthly eNews and flyers for various events. My secondary role is to help facilitate big events. Working at CRIS is my first official job and it has definitely been rewarding. God blessed me with this position the Summer of my first year. Being able to work in an environment with great communication and always focused on the mission of Christ has been uplifting.

After being involved in what CRIS does, what is your biggest takeaway?

My biggest takeaway is seeing how influential science is in helping us understand God's creation. Not being particularly interested in the STEM field myself, working here and attending the events taught me so much and gave me a wider perspective into God's creation. Working with Dr. Louise Huang and Suzann has been an amazing experience: Suzann is sociable, loving and enthusiastic; Dr.Huang is an extremely supportive leader, organized and driven. With Dr.Huang genuinely caring for Suzann and my well-being, it made CRIS an enjoyable place to work during my time at APU.
