WALL-E Movie Night

For the first time, APU sponsored a movie night that showed "WALL-E" on August 10th at the Monrovia Library Park. Instead of inviting students and family on campus to learn about STEM, this was our first attempt to bring STEM to the community. This was also a kick-off for "Segerstrom at 10", a series of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Segerstrom Science Center, and the three STEM departments being together on West Campus since 2009. All three STEM departments had booths before the movie, as well as Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, and two community partners, Barnabas Robotics, and SoCal A Rocha. Many alumni as well as local residents came by our booths. The younger visitors were particularly fascinated by the many robots and games they got to play with. The very pleasant and enjoyable evening was made possible by a partnership with the City of Monrovia. A big thank you to Joshua Canada (Director of Strategic Partnerships, CLAS Dean's Office) for coordinating the event.

Stay tuned for future movie nights next Summer and follow Segerstrom @10 for other upcoming events!
