Enlarging coloring sheet

This project is both a practice before your final value drawing, and a project in it’s own right. We will use your enlarged grid for a tempera batik painting (which I will explain when I return), or possibly a watercolor resist.

    1. Choose coloring sheet--we will need to reuse/possibly share these, treat them gently

    2. Use 3 x 3 clear viewfinder to select interesting, balanced composition. Any negative space should enhance composition.

    3. Trace around your 3 x 3 composition and double check measurements (be sure it’s 3" x 3", make adjustments if necessary).

    4. Then, carefully cut your square out of the sheet. We will need to reuse these sheets, so return unused portion to teacher.

    5. Draw a grid on your 3 x 3 (one inch squares should be fine. You may do ½ inch if you want to)

    6. Get a 9 x 9 sheet from the teacher

    7. Draw a grid on the 9 x 9 (if you used one inch on the small paper, you’ll do 3 inch squares on the large paper, ½ inch?, you’ll do 1 ½ inch) DRAW VERY LIGHTLY OR use a 4H pencil to make the grid.

    8. Using the grid method, transfer the drawing from 3 x 3 to 9 x 9

    9. If time, erase grid on 9 x 9
