Project descriptions

Project 1: Drawing of your character’s face, frontal view with background.

For this project, your minimum requirement is to create a complete contour line drawing your character’s face. The face should take up at least ⅓-½ of the page. It must be humanoid, meaning that you started with the canon for the human face and that is recognizable. From there, you may add some exaggeration &/or mash up features to create your unique being. You must also fill the background behind your figure. You can draw the home environment for your creature, or maybe show him visiting a place on earth. Maybe you want to create a fact sheet and add a pet, tool, dwelling, or food to the background. You have lots of options, but you must have a background.

Project 2: Create home environment using foreground, mid-ground, and background.

For this project, you will create the illusion of space by using fore, mid, and background in your landscape. You can add buildings, create a city, make a new planet, add creatures and plant life. You will start with the background, and then add a layer using cardboard. Be sure to use overlap, size, and detail to help make things look closer. Your final layer will be the foreground, which you will layer on top of the others. The minimum requirement is to have 5 items in each layer. You can paint, use cut paper, add oil pastel, sharpie, chalk pastels and colored pencil.
