Big Read 2018
Each 8th grade student will generate two projects that will be displayed at the Student Exhibition of Learning on November 15.
Project 1: photography project working with Mitch Conrad, done outside of class
take two photos, one of Beauty and one which shows the Opposite of Beauty
photos must both be black and white
photos must show knowledge of photography: lighting, rule of thirds, filling your frame with what you like, etc
first photos due Wed., Oct 31
final photo due Tuesday, Nov 6
Project 2: multimedia project done in class
subject is: Survival is Insufficient (not enough)
product can be two different projects, you must complete one
DUE DATE Thursday, Nov. 8 when you walk in the door
Option 1: Negative Space poem, illustrated
"the Community has no"
background
add drawings
neat lettering
words as part of the art
Option 2: Self portrait which includes that things that make life worth living for you
Format ideas in any combination:
drawing
painting
collage of words/images
cut paper
tracing of face and applying color
graphic novel
illustrated words
calligraphy
all white, texture only
using human figure as mannequin
remember things like, emotion, color, line, dimensions of the face, dimensions of people, things that make you thrive
