Distribution list member

A distribution list may contain a few or many members. Members of the distribution list are managed by the administrator via this page.

New members:

New users are added by the administrator being written into the box for new members.

If a telephone number can not be interpreted, it is left in the box for the correction. Correct entries will be added to the list of active members.

A member who is created by an administrator is always active, and a welcome SMS is automatically sent to the member when created (unless the distribution list is hidden).

Distribution list member administration:

A member may have a friendly name. The friendly name is used in the group conversation, and in other groups that the member participates in.

You must be careful not to use friendly names that may offend as the friendly names are visible to everyone involved in the group conversation.

Some or all members can be removed from a distribution list. When that happens, the member's status changes, but the member information is not deleted from the database. The friendly name remains, and can be reused if the member(s) later reenter(s) the group.

Distribution list members can be active or waiting for activation by the administrator.

Display of members by status.

There are four different member status:

• • Active Members: This category includes members participating in the distribution list's mailing/conversation. It also includes members who sent 'START' in a text message to an open distribution list.

  • Deactivated Members: Members who send a 'STOP' in a text message to exit the distribution list. Deactivated members can only be reactivated by sending a 'START' text messages to the distribution list themselves. The administrator can send a personal invitation to provide information about the distribution list, or to attract deactivated members to re-enroll.

• Member awaits OK from administrator:

  • Members who have sent a 'START' text message to an administered or hidden distribution list.

  • Member of the administrator blocked from active members.

  • Member awaits OK from users: Active members who have sent a 'STOP' text message to exit a closed distribution list. User is already approved by the administrator. If the member change her/his mind after leaving the distribution list, the member needs not be approved again.
