Aspect Equipment (FATE)

I like the idea of Weapons & Armor, but with RAW it seems there is little reason for everyone to be walking around with Weapon:3 and Armor:3. Also, Fate doesn't make weapons/armor very interesting so let's spice that up a bit.

"Aspect Equipment" is special equipment, generally Weapon or Armor, that you create by giving it positive and negative aspects. The final piece of equipment has to have an even number of positive and negative aspects. So if you want something that is Weapon:2, it needs 2 negative aspects to cancel out the 2 positive aspects.

These aspects can be used like any other aspects.

Switchblade: Weapon:0 (+0), Really Concealed (+2), No Range (-2), 1 Hand (0)

Dagger: Weapon: 1 (+1), Concealed (+1), No Range (-2), 1 Hand (0)

Sword: Weapon: 2 (+2), No Range (-2), 1 Hand (0)

Big Ass Sword: Weapon: 3 (+3), No Range (-1), 2 Hand (-1), Unwieldy (-1)

Sm Pistol: Weapon: 0 (+0) , Concealable (+1), Short Range (0), Loud (-1), 1 Hand (0)

Big Pistol: Weapon: 1 (+1), Short Range (0), Loud (-1), 1 Hand (0)

Rifle: Weapon: 3 (+3), Long Range (-1), Loud (-1), 2 Hand (-1)

Shotgun: Weapon: 3 (+3), Short Range (0), Loud (-1), Messy (-1), 2 Hand (-1)

Crossbow: Weapon: 3 (+3), Short Range (0), Reload (-2), 2 Hand (-1)

Leather Armor: Armor: 1 (+1), No Handed (+0), Obvious (-1)

Scale Armor: Armor: 2 (+2), No handed (+0), Obvious (-1), Clanky (-1)

Partial Plate: Armor: 3 (+3), No handed (+0), Obvious (-1), Clanky (-1), Isolating (-1)

Full Plate: Armor: 4 (+4), No handed (+0), Obvious (-1), Clanky (-1), Isolating (-1), Bulky (-1)

Positive Aspects

All positive aspects are considered +1 unless noted.

Weapon 1/2/3: Each point of Weapon is 1 positive

Armor 1/2/3: Each point of Armor is 1 positive

No Handed: Takes no hands to use, can't be disarmed. +1

Concealable: Weapon can be hidden out of sight on your person. A search will find it.

Really Concealed: Weapon can be hidden. A notice check of 2 is required to find it on a quick pat down. +2

Short Range: Can be used close or at short range. All weapons are assumed to be short range so +0.

Negative Aspects

All negative aspects are considered -1 unless noted

Isolating: Take a -1 to all Notice when using this

Bulky: Take a -1 to all athletics when using this. -2 negative aspect

Clanky: Item is loud. Take -1 to all stealth checks.

1 Handed: All equipment is assumed to require 1 hand to use. -0

2 Handed: Need 2 free hands to use. -1

No Handed: Takes no hands to use, but has to be worn. -0

Loud: Item is noisy when used. Will definitely be heard by people close by

Messy: Can't be used non-lethal. Tends to make a mess. Might be imprecise.

Obvious: People can tell at a glance that you have this item

Unwieldy: Item is generally large/bulky. Might be hard to use in tight quarters

No Range: Can only be used up close, Counts as -2

Long Range: Can be fired a great distance but can't be used at short range. -0

Reload: Takes an action to prepare the weapon to be used again. -2
