AVID Students at Thermo King
AVID Students See Themselves at Normandale Community College
VVMS 8th Grade AVID students learned about the different kinds of careers necessary for the development and manufacturing of refrigeration units at Thermo King.
7th Grade VVMS AVID Students participated in Normandale Community College's "See Yourself Here" Program on November 22nd. They participated in a college lecture, took a tour of NCC and listened to a panel of college students talk about their pathways to college and their career goals.
9th Grade AVID Tutorial
AVID 8th Graders Meet Kennedy AVID Students
VVMS 8th Graders had the opportunity to attend class with a KHS high school buddy, observe an AVID Tutorial, and listen to a panel answer questions about how AVID has impacted their experience at KHS on November 21st.
Kennedy AVID freshmen participate in inquiry-based tutorials; a bi-weekly part of the AVID Elective Curriculum.

DLIQ
Do, Learn, Interesting, Questions
The DLIQ strategy is a quick way for students to reflect upon their learning. It can be used in any class as an entrance ticket, exit ticket, formative assessment, quick write, homework... you name it!
Math example (entrance ticket):
D--What did we DO in math class yesterday?
L--What did you LEARN in math class yesterday?
I--What was INTERESTING in math class yesterday?
Q--What QUESTIONS do you have from math class yesterday?

Daily/weekly elective class lesson plans
Informational/instructional videos, handouts and downloads over many AVID Essentials, including Writing, Inquiry, Tutorials, Data and Site Teams.
A time sensitive support and collaboration forum for AVID Elective Teachers and Site Coordinators, providing an opportunity to collaborate with other coordinators and teachers from all over the country about issues and topics affecting their students and classes right now.
This 2-day training is intended Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Curriculum Directors, Elementary and Secondary Principals, Counselors and Teacher Leaders. Participants will engage in a five-step process to systematically evaluate program and instructional effectiveness which will then enable leaders to make changes to school culture using data. Moreover, participants will learn the various types of education data including qualitative and quantitative, recognize program strengths and challenges using AVID data reports and identify data sources outside of AVID Center.
