A story of Local Response by Raja
Be what you are.
Treat others the way that you want others to treat you.
You can make a change
This morning a sharer told us of her experience with her room partner who covered her head. That story moved many of us to tears. I was seeking an opportunity to understand how the woman who covered her head could make that difference.
The story goes when the Person A was required to share a room with Person B. Person B has a culture of covering her head and there are many who are unaware of this custom. At the start of the week, Person A called family and friends to say that her neighbour needed to cover her head. She said that she thought that she may need to change room.
But this morning person A stood to tell of the error that she made on the initial day. She was saying that Person B was full of smiles during the whole period and was very accommodating etc. She said that she was not a person who can send out warmth, care and love is in this way. She was blessed to have this person as her neighbour and now she is sad to leave her.
During tea break, I managed to get a close encounter with person B. She said these beautiful words:
Be yourself the natural way.
Treat others in the same way as others treat you.
She gave a brief description of her experiences that had shaped and defined her inner energy. Even her tertiary training and career is a pathway to make a big difference to the people around her.
My learning points:
Be yourself in a natural way: there is no need to change or to improve using external stimuli to add to increase your attributes.
It is within us. We need to gain,to grow and to glow where the energy will do the rest to whoever we meet.
Community is made of individuals with different songs. The community gathers all to find the lyrics to sing a song that all can sing.
The community empowers individuals to showcase their talents, innate skills and qualities in a positive way.
