• • Hospitality was warmly given and received.

  • Appreciation was warmly given and received by both groups.

  • Collective leadership is a strength of the community.

  • Equality is apparent when the community responds to questions.

  • The women in the village are very strong and empowered to speak up and make change happen.

  • Many young people aspire to be teachers - indicator as to what makes us human is a desire to pass on our experiences and knowledge.

  • Giving back to the community: they want to further their education so as to come back and teach poor children.

  • A welcoming atmosphere from both sides encourages open sharing.

  • A sincere interest in their stories was important.

  • In future, we will begin by asking, "Why do you think we are here?"

  • Breaking into smaller groups would be nice for more people to be heard.

  • We are reminded not to give in to the temptation of imposing our personal dreams on other communities.
