After Action Reflection
1. What was supposed to happen?
We should meet the community at one place.
2. What actually happened?
The community received us very well.
The interest and enthusiasm of the community was fantastic.
The community honoured us with shawls.
A large number of young women gathered in the ICDS centre.
Little space led to congestion
Our team decided to split into 5 groups
3. What went well?
Openly shared
They took us to a calm place.
They accepted us very well.
They were very flexible because they also divided into many groups.
They dreamed to work outside so right now they are working out of their villages.
When they started to work, their respect had been increased in the village and the perception towards the women had been changed in the community as well as in the family.
Now they have been able to discuss about HIV and condoms. They are using condoms.
They became courageous. Now they are used to speaking to many people outside of their families.
Their dreams have been increased. Now they are dreaming to provide a quality education for their children.
They are thinking more about their health, cleanliness and hygiene.
Their roles in the family and community have been increased.
What we learned
Before marriage, discuss with young people regarding their health and growth in their life. CLCP encourages systematic learning.
CLCP really believed in community strength because yesterday we have been able to look at their strengths.
It helped us to build rapport quickly with the community
Suggestions for improvement
We should select communities that are close rather than communities that are distant.
