A story of Local Response by Shanthi from Chandara Mobile Sangha, Bangalore
A sex worker in Bangalore city was kidnapped by a group led by the son of a Police Inspector. They not only raped her, but also seized her valuable items including mobile, cash and ATM card. She escaped from the scene and made a phone call from a public booth to the crisis team of Chandara Mahila Sangha.
Within no time the crisis team rushed to the spot and caught the group read handed. But the group pretended that they are powerful and can cause trouble for the community.
At this stage, the crisis team called the local police and they came immediately and arrested the group. All the valuables have been recovered from the culprits and returned to the sex worker. Police authorities have filed cases against the culprits.
The lesson learned from this incident is that if women face their situation boldly, they can win and teach a lesson to others.
