Cast Iron Chef
This shift is done weekly for 1 hour of workshift credit.
Collect all the cast iron pan from the kitchen stove.
If possible try using as little water as possible.
For lightly soiled pans, begin by pouring a bit of oil into your skillet. Take a paper towel and wipe off any food pieces.
For pans that have food slightly stuck on them, you can pour a little sea salt or regular salt on the skillet. Scrub the skillet with a paper towel, throwing away any scrubbed on food. After cleaning off all excess salt add a little oil to a paper towel to oil the pan down.
For really stuck on food use the steel wool and pour some hot water scrubbing off all the stuck on food.
When using water with the cast iron it is important that you dry it as a soon as possible or it will rust.
You can dry the cast iron with a paper towel or set it over a flame for a few minutes to dry.
