Using the Projector

The projector in the carriage house is hooked up to the Yamaha AV receiver. In general, if you want both the sound and the video to work you need to make sure that both the projector and the receiver are on and set to the correct inputs. The Projector should always be on HDMI 2. Use the white remote (looks like a fisherprice toy) to turn the projector on and off and make sure it's on HDMI 2.

Use the silver/black remote with more buttons than any remote has a right to have to select the correct input on the receiver.

Cable TV

    • Receiver should be on HDMI 2

    • Change channels with the Comcast Remote

PC

    • Receiver should be on HDMI 3

    • Password is the usual one

    • Control PC with keyboard and mouse

    • Use chrome or firefox, there is a link to the file server on the desktop. Will support powerpoint or pdf presentations.

    • You can also hook up your own computer by taking the video and audio wires from the back on the PC and putting them on your own computer. Note there is really no good reason for doing this as the PC has access to the internet, the file server, and can open most media formats. Therefore, if you do hook up your own computer, you're on you're own. Please reconnect the PC when you're done.

Fixing the mess you made

In general, there should be very little reason to mess with any of the wires already hooked up to the receiver. If you need another input, you can always use one of the spare ones on the back or front of the receiver. If you move any wires (to hook up another device or otherwise) you are required to put them back where they started. Otherwise people won't be able to use this guide, they'll complain that the TV is messed up, and you'll have been an uncooperative jerk.
