User Settings

Canvas Profile

If you are new to Canvas, we recommend you take a few minutes to set up your Profile and User Settings:

1. Click the "Account" icon on the left of the page.
2. Click "Profile" in the list.
3. Click the "Edit Profile" button and enter the information you would like people to see.
4. To change your profile photo, click the bottom right corner of the picture image, and click "Upload a picture" Then find your picture, and click the red Save button.
5. Click "Settings" if you want to connect your Canvas account to Google Drive, or add your mobile phone number, or an alternate email address.
6. Click "Notifications" to tell Canvas where and how often to notify you of changes in your classes.

The profile photo and the profile information you enter will be visible to everyone in your classes, but not visible outside of Canvas on the public internet. The Bio and Links sections will be visible to anyone with access to Biola's Canvas site. These are a good way to introduce yourself to others in an online class

Account Settings

Next, set up any additional contact methods you want to use on Canvas, and set your time zone:

1. Optional: Click "+ Add Email Address" if you want Canvas to use an additional email address to contact you (other than the default @biola.edu address). Then click "+ Add Contact Method" if you want to add a cell phone number for Canvas to send you text messages.
2. Click the "Edit Settings" button
3. Choose a Language and Time Zone (default is US English and Pacific Time Zone).
4. Click the red "Update Settings."

Next, click Notifications to change how Canvas contacts you, and see Canvas Notification Preferences.
