Viewing Closed Courses

After a semester ends, courses will close and be removed from your "Courses" menu. (See Course Dates for more details, and instructions for teachers to change the dates.)

When a course closes, it enters a "read-only" state: no new assignments, discussions, or grades can be entered. However, you still have access to view the course.

Finding Past Courses

To find a past course, go to the "Courses" menu and click "View All Courses"

Teachers: Viewing Student Submissions

Typically, there are several ways to view student assignment submissions. However, for closed courses, the common method of finding the submission in the Gradebook doesn't work because the Gradebook is read-only.

Instead, do this:

1. Go to Gradebook

2. Click on the student's name

3. Click the "Grades" button

4. Click on the assignment in the list of grades

If you need to re-open a course for some reason, only the Canvas Administrators can do that for you - contact someone in Biola's Digital Learning Office.
