Using VoiceThread Videos

For Students: Completing Assignments with VoiceThread

VoiceThread is an online video interaction tool, which lets you watch & create video presentations and comment on specific parts of others' videos. Think of it like a video discussion board. You teacher may give you an assignment on VoiceThread. To get started, click on the assignment link this will open the VoiceThread site (you may have to click a button to open it in a new window first).

• There are three different kinds of assignments your teacher may have set up for you:
• Create VoiceThread - with this assignment, you will need to create your own VoiceThread video/media presentation. You can either create it ahead of time, then link your already-created VoiceThread to the assignment, or you can click the "Create new VoiceThread" as you're turning in the assignment
• Comment on VoiceThread - You will need to watch a specific VoiceThread and add a certain number of minimum comments to the VoiceThread. See the How to Comment instructions for details.
• Watch a VoiceThread - in order to receive credit for this kind of assignment, you will need to watch the entire VoiceThread assigned.

When you are finished linking to a VoiceThread, click "and share with class" so others can see it, then click the "Submit Assignment" button.

VoiceThread on Canvas

Biola uses VoiceThread for some online discussions. This tool allows you view a video and add text comments, video annotations, and audio to the presentation. You can also create your own presentations. Some assignments in your class may require you to answer questions, make comments, or create presentations with this tool.

To get started, click on the link in your class to the VoiceThread assignment or VoiceThread presentation.

Your VoiceThread Account

Once you've used VoiceThread at least once through Canvas, an account has been created for you. You can use VoiceThread directly through this web site: https://biola.voicethread.com/ - use your Biola NetID to sign in.

On your account, you will see all the VoiceThreads connected to your account for all your classes. You can also create and manage new ones.
