Group Discussions

FIXED

We have been having occasional problems with Discussion Forums in a handful of classes, and we're not sure why.

Here's how to avoid recent problems with the Weekly Discussion Forums: make sure you're in the sub-group before posting. (This is supposed to happen automatically, but in some cases it hasn't, for some unknown reason.)

Explanation: Discussion Forums can be located either in the main class or in a sub-group of the class. The "Week X Discussion Forums" are located in the sub-groups of this class. However, for some reason, some of your posts have been going in to the main class (and when that happens, the teacher can still see your post, but it disappears from students' view, since you can only see your sub-group.)

Work-around: Here's how to make sure it doesn't happen to you. When you're in the "main class" you will see the line under the Biola logo look like this:

When you have moved into your sub-group of the class, it will look like this:

So the work-around is to make sure that you are in the sub-group before posting something to the Weekly Discussion Forum. (This is supposed to happen automatically when you click on the Discussion Forum). To get to your sub-group, you can pull down the "Courses & Groups" menu at the top and go directly to your sub-group. Then from there, you can click on "Discussions" on the left side, click on the week, then write your post.
