You can record Zoom Meetings directly to VidGrid then share those recordings within Canvas. Some people at Biola have Zoom accounts connected to Biola's enterprise Zoom account license. In addition, some people have accounts on Biola's VidGrid account. Zoom is a video conferencing platform that allows you to host live video meetings online. VidGrid is a video hosting platform that allows you to upload and publish video content and easily track which students have viewed the content. VidGrid is connected to Canvas in such a way that makes it easy to embed video content on VidGrid directly into Canvas Content Pages.
This page describes how to record a Zoom meeting, save it to VidGrid, then publish that recording on a Canvas Content page.
To record your Zoom meetings to VidGrid then embed it on Canvas:
The rest of this document gives more details on each of these steps.
You will need an account on Zoom that is connected to Biola's enterprise Zoom account. See the Zoom Licensed Account Announcement for instructions and a link for requesting access. These accounts allow you to host meetings with up to 300 participants and no time limit.
To log in to to your Zoom account, open the Zoom application (which you can download at https://zoom.us/download) and use "Sign In with SSO" (if you are already logged in to a different account, first do "Sign Out" from the top-right menu). Here are the steps:
A few people have accounts on Biola's VidGrid video hosting platform. If you have an account, you can manage and publish your videos on Canvas yourself. If you do not have an account, the Video Production Team at Biola's Office of Digital Learning can help you publish those videos or provide you with an account. Contact Joseph Rubio for more information.
If you have an account, and you want to log in, go to https://www.vidgrid.com/ then:
You can start, run, and finish your Zoom meeting as normal. You could even run an empty meeting with no other participants as a way of creating a recording of yourself and/or a presentation for later use.
To record all or a portion of the meeting, click the "Record" button (1) at the bottom of the screen and choose "Record to the Cloud" (2)
When you finish the meeting, the recording will become available in two separate places:
You can share these recordings from those accounts by getting a link to the recording. Or you can publish the VidGrid recording directly to a Canvas page (next section).
Note: Another option is to use "Record on this Computer" and manage and publish your recording yourself, rather than using VidGrid (for example, by putting it in a Google Drive folder and sharing it there). See Record a Lecture with Zoom for an example of how to do it that way.
To embed any video in your VidGrid account (including a Zoom Recording) into a Canvas Content Page or any place that uses the "Rich Content Editor" (such as Announcements, Discussions, Assignment Descriptions or Quizzes):
