Behavior Chart or Contract

Directions:

Students with ADHD and Emotional Behavioral Disorders often struggle with many disruptive behaviors inside of the classroom. Some of these behaviors could be as mild as calling out instead of raising their hand to as severe as assault or table flipping. Most school districts implement a School-wide Positive Behavior Support Plan to help reduce some of the severe behaviors and to create a positive school community.

Classroom teachers also often expect students to be prepared and ready to learn, occasionally their behavior does not communicate this preparation. Sometimes their behavior distracts or disrupts the learning that is expected to go on, particularly for students with ADHD or Emotional Behavior Disorders. The reasons why a student may act out can be due to a variety of factors. However, behavior charts and contracts can be one way to help reinforce appropriate behavior and stop inappropriate behavior. On D2L, I have shared several exemplars of behavior charts and contracts from previous students and others are templates for contracts that I have used at the secondary level classrooms.

Your mission for this quest is to create either a behavior chart or contract for a hypothetical student to monitor both inappropriate and appropriate behaviors for the IEP team.
