Magnetic Tile Poetry: SLD Edition

One of the biggest challenges for students with specific learning disabilities is being able to complete tasks like their peers without disabilities. Students with reading needs often struggle in multiple courses as reading encompasses so much of the learning experience. Many skills and concepts need to be directly taught for them to understand, and they try to hide that struggle through compensation strategies (i.e. audiobook, listening skills, etc.).

However, when the right teacher comes and shows them that they will not give up on them, anything is possible. This is an opportunity to allow your creativity to flow. I want you to create a poem that focuses on a concept, feeling, action that we have learned in Chapter 6. Some examples could include: direct instruction, imposter syndrome (not being good or smart enough), learned helplessness, facing challenges, advocacy, assessment, hope, transition, etc.

An alternative option for this quest could be creating a musical piece that reflects the struggle of learning a concept and then the ultimate success of learning.
