--> Bell Schedule for Wednesday, 4/10

Have you ever wanted to:

Our students do some incredible work in their classes and co-curricular activities at Deer Isle-Stonington  High School.  Whether it is a beautiful piece of furniture in industrial arts, a conics project in pre-calculus, a mosaic from art, or a lab in chemistry, our students do work every day that demonstrates both their learning and their individual interests.  We are incredibly proud of the work our students produce, and would like the opportunity to share it with you as their parents.

To showcase all of the great work that our students do, we are introducing the first annual “Discovery Night: A Festival of Learning,” to be held Wednesday, April 10th from 5:30-7:00pm.  We will be opening our classrooms to parents and the community, where you can watch our students in action- and even participate yourself!

In order to make sure all students can participate in this exciting opportunity to show off their skills and interests, we are going to modify the school day.  School will start at 11:50am and end at 7:00pm.  We will add a second, high school only bus run that will pick up students and drop them off.  We will also be serving students lunch at 11:50 and dinner before Discovery Night.  We will have shortened classes in the afternoon, and then all students will participate in Discovery Night.  We will provide more information on our website and Facebook page about the bell schedule and bus runs for Discovery Night prior to the event.

The most important part of making Discovery Night a success is the involvement of parents and relatives.  Please come and see all of the great things your child is doing at DISHS.  Both food and childcare will be provided, and activities will be exciting and engaging to family members of all ages.  We'd welcome your participation and encourage you to bring other interested family members.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We look forward to seeing you on April 10th!
