Off-Campus Learning Days 9/10-9/12

The halls of Deer Isle-Stonington High School will be strangely quite Monday September 10th-Wedensday September 12th as all students and teachers participate in our annual "Off Campus Learning Days."  Approximately 20 students will spend three days in Haystack's Studio-based Learning program, an intensive arts workshop where area students learn alongside professional artists.  The remaining students will make two visits to college campuses and spend one day at Camp Beech Cliff in Somesville with a focus on community building to support strong advisories and a respectful school climate.  Off Campus Learning Days are elements of DISHS's School Improvement Action Plan, specifically connected to strategies around broadening student aspirations and connecting students with a supportive advisor.  The schedule for each day is:

Monday:

All 9th Graders: Camp Beech Cliff.  Departure- 6:45am Return- 4:30pm

10th Graders*: Eastern Maine Community College.  Departure- 7:45am Return 2:40pm

11th & 12th Graders*: One of the following, based on post-secondary interests-

University of Southern Maine.  Departure- 7:30am Return 7:30pm

Colby College.  Departure- 7:30am Return- 5:00pm

Washington County Community College.  Departure- 7:30am Return 7:00pm

Tuesday:

All 9th Graders: Maine Maritime Academy.  Departure- 8:00am Return 2:30pm

10th Graders*: Camp Beech Cliff.  Departure- 6:45am Return- 4:30pm

11th & 12th Graders*:

University of Maine.  Departure- 7:30am Return- 4:30pm

NESCOM/Eastern Maine Community College.  Departure- 7:45am Return 4:30pm

UMaine Bangor/Husson.  Departure- 7:30am Return- 4:30pm

Wednesday:

All 9th Graders: UMO Physics Show.  Departure- 7:30am Return 2:40pm

10th Graders*: UMaine Augusta/Holocaust Museum Departure- 7:30am Return 5:00pm

11th & 12th Graders*: Camp Beech Cliff.  Departure- 6:45am Return- 4:30pm
