Post date: Jan 17, 2017 7:11:35 PM

How time flies!  We are already wrapping up the first semester of the school year.  Students will be taking final exams this week and the semester ends on Friday.  This year, we are providing all of our students with a new and very exciting challenge.  Starting Monday, January 23rd, all students and staff will be participating in “Arts Week” and attempting to complete the innovative team challenge.

Students will complete in mixed-grade teams of 20-25 students and will have five days to create a 15-minute theatrical presentation which explores the questions Who am I? Who are we? Who do we want to be?  Each of the student teams will present their final pieces in a public presentation at 6:15pm on Friday 1/27 in the Reach Performing Arts Center.

Arts Week will count as the school curriculum for the week as well as a regular school day; students must attend just as they would a normal school day.  11th and 12th grade students can earn 10 SWE’s during the course of this week!  9th and 10th grade students will have both formative and summative assessment opportunities for all five SWE’s required for graduation.

The week will culminate in a public performance on Friday evening.  We will have a modified school day on January 27th, with school starting at 12:15pm and ending at 8:00pm.  School lunch will be be served as well as dinner for all students.  School transportation will be provided- please contact the main office if your child will need to ride the bus either to or from school that day.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the public performance starting at 6:15pm.  There will be a FREE community dinner starting at 5:30pm in the cafeteria.

Please join us in celebrating the creativity and hard work of our students… let’s fill the Reach on Friday January 27th!
