The April 3rd meeting agenda and the latest school board communications committee column on the 2012-13 budget are attached. The school committee held it's third budget workshop this week. The next budget session will be April 12 at 5:00 p.m. at the elementary school. Public participation in budget discussions is very important.

The new agreement contains some innovative features that support school improvement. The Board and the Association will hold separate ratification votes next week.  Specifics contract terms will be made public after ratification.

Students at DISES had a great month of March in chess, Odyssey of the Mind and National History Day. The school chess teams won state championships in all three of the elementary divisions (for the second consecutive year) and finished second in the high school tournament. The chess team will be traveling to San Diego for the nationals. DISES OM teams finished fifth and first in the middle school division winning a second consecutive state crown. The OM team will be going to Iowa for the national competition. In the National History Day state competition Philomena Mattes won first place and Abigail Steinsieck was second. Congratulations to all of the students participating in those activities.

April will have a tough time living up to March for pleasant weather and student successes!

Have a great weekend.
