Discovery Night: A Festival of Learning April 15th 5:30-7:00pm

Post date: Mar 10, 2015 10:16:10 PM

Have you ever wanted to forge hot metal? Dissect something? Build a mousetrap car? Compete against the math team? We are incredibly proud of the work our students produce, and would like the opportunity to share it with you as their parents.  Discovery Night will also serve as our 8th grade parent night.  8th grade students and their parents are welcome to attend.

Our students do some incredible work in their classes and co-curricular activities at Deer Isle-Stonington High School.  Whether it is a beautiful piece of furniture in industrial arts, a conics project in pre-calculus, a mosaic from art, or a manuscript in creative writing, our students do work every day that demonstrates both their learning and their individual interests.  We are incredibly proud of the work our students produce, and would like the opportunity to share it with everyone in the community.  To showcase all of the great work that our students do, the high school is hosting the third annual “Discovery Night: A Festival of Learning,” to be held Wednesday, April 15th from 5:30-7:00pm.  We will be opening our classrooms to parents and the community, where you can watch our students in action- and even participate yourself!

The school day will run from 11:50-7:00pm.  Bus transportation will be provided for those students who need it.  Lunch will be served at 11:50, and students will prepare and serve a locally sourced seafood chowder to all students at 4:45pm.  There will be games for young children, and activities will be exciting and engaging to family members of all ages.  We welcome your participation and encourage you to bring other interested community members.
