CPT Recreation of "Northern Lake"

The title of the art piece I have chosen to recreate is called “Northern Lake”. It was painted in the year 1923 by Lawren Stewart Harris, a member of the Group Of Seven.

My name is Irha Khurram and I recreated this beautiful art piece from my home in Cookstown, Ontario. I started this painting on Sunday March 21st and completed the art piece on Saturday March 27th, 2021. After lots of searching I finally chose to recreate this piece “Northern Lake” because the visuals of the trees in the foreground of the painting had caught my eye along with the beautifully painted sky and water. I knew it would be a bit of a challenge especially having to work with paint but in the end, I decided that this is the painting I wanted to do for my CPT.

My experience with creating this image definitely had its ups and downs. Sometimes I felt like throwing the canvas out my window and sometimes I was really immersed in the painting and trying to get it just right. Considering this is such a big part of my grade, it was a little bit stressful but I tried to enjoy it as much as I could. The reasoning for my colour choice is simply due to the requirements of the CPT. Since we had to recreate the image, the colours should be as accurate as possible so that’s what I tried to do with the best of my ability.

Recreation of "Still Life With Lamp (1944) by Pablo Picasso

Title: Recreation of "Still Life With Lamp"

Medium: Coloured pencils

Size: 8x10inch

In Pablo Picasso’s Still Life With Lamp, shapes are used to piece together a puzzle like picture. This somewhat hard-edge art piece uses geometric and non-geometric shapes to create objects within the art piece which further gets viewers involved with analyzing the art piece with more depth such as identifying the shapes used in the art piece that brings this whole Picasso piece together. The use of lines and shapes fit well together and the use of colours is also appealing for viewers as many tones of blue are being used and blended together or creating sharper transitions into other colours and shapes.
