Self Portrait, Digital, 04/06/21

This piece is called “Out Of Mind''. It depicts a girl watching a movie, and the universe in the movie is popping out at her and coming into her world. I created this using acrylic paint. You will notice the use of a complementary colour scheme of blue and orange in this painting. I chose this because I wanted to show a clear difference in the real world, making it darker and more sad, and the universe, making it brighter and more dream-like. This piece was inspired by my own experiences throughout this past year. I spent a lot of time watching movies and every time I found myself getting so drawn into the movie that I felt like I was inside it. I felt like the universe from the movie was around me and that I could see and feel everything there. My goal is to make the viewers feel like they too are experiencing what I had experienced. I want them to escape the real world and create their own dream land as they look at this piece. The final piece turned out how I imagined, I think it portrays the out of this world/ dream-like feeling that I had intended. Overall I am very happy with how it turned out.
