Introduction

Students will be introduced to the world of Mermaids.  Mermaids are the stuff of legends and folklore. Cultures from all over the world have stories about this mythological sea creature. 

Essential Question

Why are mermaids so universal in folklore stories from around the world?

Procedure

Watch the video

Watercolor background with blue using the wet on wet technique and add salt.

Trace tail template on fancy paper and cut out.

Glue tail on drawing paper.

Using a pencil, draw your own version of a mermaid or merman. 

Time  to add color. Don't rush it! Use crayons and markers.

Materials

• Students: Will  bring their own pencil, eraser, crayons, markers,  scissors and glue stick to class

• Salt

• Brushes

• Fancy paper

• Paper

Clean Up

All work needs to be collected and stored on the butcher block table .

Label each classes work.

Tables need to be wipe clean and chairs pushed in.
