Students will create an architectural drawing inspired by New York City. They will use patterns to add detail to their architecture and then use markers and crayons to add bold and beautiful colors to their architectural gem.
Students will learn about overlapping and shapes in architecture.
Students will create their own cityscapes that create a sense of depth by overlapping the buildings.
Students will use lines and shapes to create patterns.
Students will explore how colors can accentuate patterns.

Draw a Rectangle
Lightly draw a horizon line with a pencil on white paper. Draw one complete tower, ensuring the bottom starts on the horizon line.
Draw More Rectangles and Squares
Create 2-4 additional towers, overlapping toward the bottom of the buildings to create a sense of depth. Add Interest by including triangles and domes to the top of the buildings.
Add Pattern
Add shapes, lines, and patterns ….monster in the background!
Outline all pencil marks with a black sharpie or pen, using a pen for small designs.
Use a variety of colors to highlight and enhance your patterns.
