Introduction

The European Explorers were driven by the need to find the shorts routes by sea to the spice islands. Maps and monsters play interesting role in the quest for spices and flavorful food.

Procedure

Watch the videos and study the examples.

Create a vintage map with sea monsters.

1. Using the examples Draw the spice islands surrounded by protective sea monsters in pencil.

2. Use as much detail as you can: Mountains, waves, palm trees, volcanoes, ships, compass rose.....everything you can think of that will make your map interesting.

3. Use a sharpies to color in parts of your map.

4. Gently crumple up your paper and then open up/flatten.
