Students will be introduced to the art of scientific Illustration. They will be exploring ways to communicate complex information through a variety of visual presentations.
Students will have two handouts. One is a labeled example of a human cell and the other is mine example of a human cell.
Use a cardboard circle to trace a circle on your paper. Begin designing your visual interpretation of a human cell. It is time to think about your composition and how you want to personalize your illustration and still be able to communicate the unique parts of the cell.
Add other human cells: nerve cells, red and white blood cells, muscle cells, bone cells...refer to the examples. Look for the patterns and repeated biomorphic shapes.
Draw in pencil and outline in fine sharpie.
