Writing a Tutorial
I started out writing this tutorial by keeping notes to myself on what to do. I had to do this mostly so I would not forget later. There were lots of tasks I had to figure out that were not described elsewhere. Once I had some notes written, it was much easier to add or edit them as I modded more. Anytime I had to do something that wasn't immediately obvious to me, I would add to the notes. Later, I started including stuff that would help others. I like being organized, so eventually I began organizing the notes into coherent tutorial form.
Some general tips for writing your own tutorials:
Use lists for the steps, and use paragraphs for explanations.
Keep the steps simple.
Provide details.
Insert lots of images that show what the written steps are describing.
Stay consistent.
When titling sections or chapters, use "-ing" words, such as "Modding" or "Adding".
For detailed steps, start them with present-tense verbs, such as "Click" and "Select".
Use second-person words, such as "you" and "your", to refer to readers of the tutorial, and first-person words, such as "I" and "my", to refer to yourself as the author.
