Testing is very important. Not only does it catch mistakes, it can point out glitches from unforeseen interactions, such as a texture looking right in 3D modeling tool but looking different in-game.

The general testing strategy I use:

• • Verify mesh, textures, and basic body movements look correct in the 3D modeling tool.

  • Compile the model for HLMV and verify mesh, textures, and animations in HLMV.

  • Compile the model for L4D2 and verify everything in-game via single-player and multiplayer campaign games.
