Excelling- Students are provided age-appropriate opportunities for applied learning in professional STEM or STEAM Careers. The school provides age-appropriate opportunities for engaging in STEM or STEAM business and industry awareness. There is evidence that exposure to STEM or STEAM careers leads to the application of employability skills in multiple disciplines.
Katie Martin, UGA Extension office, spoke with 2nd graders about the life cycle of a chicken and some of their needs. they are going to be incubating chicken eggs in February, and this was a great way to prepare.
Stacy Gheesling , of Pike Nurseries, came to share with 1st graders about how they use greenhouses to start and grow plants during cooler months.
Jessica Chandler, nutritionist, routinely works with the garden clubs and shares different ways the school harvest can be used to support healthy meals.
4th Graders learned about ecology and vermiculture from Jim Humphries when starting their wormery.

Students and parents were invited to a Family STEM Night February 29, 2024. They were able to participate in a variety of STEM activities that were themed around Leap Day!

parent night 3-14-23.pdfAg Day 2022.pdfFor the first showcase of the 2022-2023 school year, students and teachers participated in the first WES Ag Day. This day focused on agriculture local to Bartow County and GA. Grades 3-5 participated the the GA Farm Bureau's mobile bus classes. Grades PK- 2 were visited by local farmers that shared about their livestock and crops. They were able to see and interact with some of the animals.
