2.5 Technology Integration

Excelling- Technology use is ubiquitous throughout STEM or STEAM classrooms and students are producers and not just consumers of digital content that supports mastery of the Georgia Standards. Students identify and use the technology they need to solve problems. Technology is used to engage students in global opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Students actively apply the practices of digital literacy, digital citizenship, and computational thinking within interdisciplinary units. Students demonstrate foundational programming concepts and utilize informational security fundamentals when creating their final product.

1st Grade

1st grade students were tasked with designing and creating a flyer for the Mother's Day Market they put on each year. Students used Canva to choose the design and make sure all the correct information was there. These were printed, passed out, and hung around the school to advertise the sale.

2nd Grade

Students researched a variety of historical figures during one of their Arts and Letters units of study. They chose 1 person to complete additional research on and created a canva slide to present to their classmates.

2nd grade students researched chicken enrichment and designed perches and toys on Tinkercad in our Learning Hub.

After the perches were designed and 3D printed, we placed them with the chickens. Our new chick decided that he preferred a larger perch to the stairs now that he is growing.

3rd Grade

3rd grade students created a PowerPoint about water pollution. They were able to do their own research online and in our Learning Hub. They also used resources in the classroom, such as reading passages about pollution and KWL chart they have been adding to as a class in our STEM journals.

4th Grade

weather forecast.pdf

As part of their year long unit plan, students studied weather instruments and patterns. Then they worked as groups to create and record weather forecasts in Canva.

5th Grade

Students used Mineraft EDU to design a traditional garden and one for hydroponics. They had to ensure that there was adequate space and watering systems for each.
