Peeking out the womb
It’s so simple but yet it becomes so hard
Unaware of what to come
Uncertain of what we are meant to do
So young we don’t realize that it’s a blur
It becomes a puzzle that doesn’t have an end
Too many pieces to connect
How can we realize that it’s not just about us?
Open your eyes
We are not made for evil
For cruelty
We are not meant to kill
Close the blinds
It’s dark
You are the light
The shadow of the other side
Any act so small, so brittle, but so hurtful
Your life so short
Make it long
Make it worth living out of the womb
The kingdom has opened
The place up above for those who love
Open to the kind-hearted, serving of God
So let your light shine
Let your life not be wasted
Open your heart and open your mind
You will receive what you have always longed for
A close friend of mine inspired me to write this poem. They were in an extremely difficult time in their lives, something that was unbearable for them. It made them doubt their worth of living and their value as a person in everyone’s lives. It was so upsetting to hear the things they would say about themselves and their renounced mindset. They were willing to share with me, but all I could do was listen and tell them they were worth something more. I felt hopeless but I decided to sit down in my room, let myself feel as if I was in their shoes, but I knew I would never understand exactly what they felt. I started to rethink everything they had said about that topic. I started writing something that would be motivating and reassuring to them. Something that made them feel appreciated and loved, in the eyes of God. I used imagery, metaphors, and symbolism to help the reader understand the significance of life. This poem was written freely, no rhythm, no pattern, but a simple writing that creates a new perspective of life. In my writing, I am exploring innocence, life, awakening, and faith. I was inspired by the Bible, the Bible’s inspiring scriptures, that have pushed me through hard times, was something I used to reflect my writing in the poem. It allowed me to pass on what I know about scripture and the significance of words, to someone who needed to hear them.
