You are always on your phone,
the free time you do have
is spent on your devices.
Many assume that you don’t
have a social life,
in which you say you do.
Through most of the time,
many don’t believe you.
They just don’t get the feeling ,
the feeling that video games,
online reading and music
fulfill within your person.
Winning video games feels like |
you can control the outcome
of your future, while reading
allows you to fully immerse
yourself in any reality but this
world that truly understands
Your situation and feelings.
but who cares about why you
are the way you are, all people
will assume and believe their assumptions.
One inspiration that I had for this poem is the social norm that Gen Z are always on their phone doing things that have no actual meaning. My writing process was mostly very spontaneous , there wasn't much process, just me writing what came into my mind. I felt like this was a big topic that is very talked about when it comes to this generation. The structure of my poem was very basic, the same way every poem is made with the sentence structure/ stanzas pausing for a little before continuing on to the next line. The themes I’m exploring is conformity and how social norms can very much determine how others see us vs how we really are.
