Corpse Bride (2005) is another Tim Burton film revolving around the dead, something we haven't looked at since season 2! In this beautifully grim film we are subject to many skeletal and zombie undead, however today we will only be looking at the undead focused on the most, that being the Corpse Bride herself, Emily.
Emily is quite an interesting undead when it comes to spook levels. While oftentimes she is definitely designed to be one of the more aesthetically pleasing characters (Like Victor and Victoria) she can, at others, be quite frightening. Were cold blue skin and skeletal features certainly contribute, but it is the furious emotion behind her eyes that seal the deal for a decently high spook.
The danger of all the undead in the film is heightened by their invulnerability. They feel no physical pain and can rejoin limbs, withstand blows, and even brush off being impaled by swords. That being said, there is some rule limiting their interaction with the living. They seem somewhat unable to outright attack any living people, and when they do, their real strength is in numbers rather than singular force. Danger will be kept lower as a result.
We aren't ever given a scene showing Emily while she was alive, but the changes from other living characters seem minimal. The color blue takes over much of the usual pigment, some skeleton is showing, and limbs fall off every once in a while.
Corpse Bride is a somewhat captivating title, maybe a 7/10, but my experiences with people named Emily tells me that the name is not one to be overly afraid of, perhaps a 2. We will round down to a 4.
