The Ghostbusters. They got the charm, they got the spunk, and they got the racial inclusivity. These four men fought courageously in the New York streets as detailed through the documentary named after them. Within it, the brave heroes contained a number of dangerous or otherwise trouble-making undead. This Sunday, I will be going over every ghost depicted in the two films, and ranking them on their own, as well as restating some facts concerning the villains of these films, and their undeadness.
Ghostbusters 1

Ghosts are appearing in response to the return of Gozer, a God worshipped by the Sumerians and other past people. We learn in this movie that not all ghosts are focused on violence or evil, as seen through "Ghost-job" Ghost, as well as the idea of Bleeehh modes, where ghosts can either look like themselves as they were while alive, or as a creepier monster version of themselves, best shown with the Library Ghost who does both.
Pink Library Ghost throws cards and screeches at loud mouths.
Spook - 7. Bleeehhh!
Danger - 2. No touching but lots of card throwing.
Transform - 6. 2 forms. Shhh and Bleeehhh!
Name - 2. Library Ghost. Actual name. Sounds like just a shusher. No Bleeeh included.
Slimer is a gross slob that poses no real threat, but makes me sick when I look at him.
Spook - 4. Mostly gross, kinda spook.
Danger - 2. Just eats and breaks plates.
Transform - 7. Was this a man? Is Slimer the ghost of a man? Did he look like this? The Librarian looked alot like a normal lady but turned into a Bleeeeh ghost. Is Slimer a dude that is always in Bleehhh mode? Slimer disturbs me.
Name - 1. Slimer. I don’t want to break down his name.
"Ghost-Job" Ghost. Antithesis of all things undead.
Spook - 0. She is more of an… intimate ghost…
Danger - 0 Soft touches from what the movie suggests.
Transform - 5. Floaty, see through, and has invisibility.
Name - 0. No given name.
Creepy Screaming Subway Pterodactyl. Confusing Dino.
Spook - 7. Screeches like a Banshee, wiggles like a worm.
Danger - 2. Blows some wind and flies around.
Transform - Hard to tell. Is this a Bleeh form of a man? Or a normal Pterodactyl’s ghost? Either a 5 or a 8, but went with a 5 because of knowledge gained in GB2.
Name - 0. No given name.
Scary zombie ghost that drives a taxi.
Spook - 9. This dude is real freaky. Plus he drives dangerously.
Danger - 4. He drives a car at people so pretty dangerous but not supernaturally so.
Transform - 7. Pink ghost spirit then scary ghost apparition of a zombie.
Name - 0. No given name.
Gozer, The Terror Dogs, and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
Gozer, The Terror Dogs, and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
These characters are all not being ranked. This is because none of these characters are actually undead, they were simply trapped in an alternate dimension. Gozer is a God, Zuul and Vince are known as Terror Dogs and again have not died, they simply possess Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver, and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is an avatar of Gozer, so again, never died and came back to life.

Ghostbusters 2 brings ghosts associated with the Pink Goo or Pink Slime. This is an emotionally reactive substance that can bring ghosts back from the dead, or possess inanimate objects. Because of this, we have a variety of inanimate objects possessed by spirits here, which I rank with the abilities of the possession, but have Transform at 1 for such instances, as the items they inhabit are limited to what the items are suspected to do (for example, a carriage's wheels roll, but it does not act like a transformer and become a scary monster carriage.) The Pink Goo was brought by Vigo, the main antagonist and man of many faces. We can also assume dinosaur themed ghosts resemble actual dinosaurs of this world, as without seeing any accurate ghosts of dinosaurs, we still have characters talk about them as dinosaurs.
Carriage ghost takes Sigourney's baby Oscar on a dangerous joy-ride.
Spook - 3. Scary in a way that you want the baby to be safe, but not scary on its own.
Danger - 3. Baby is in danger, and cars swerve, but again not very dangerous itself.
Transform - 1. While obviously a carriage is not a man, whatever is possessing the carriage is not the carriage, so the transformation is that of losing your form, and when you die that essentially happens over time.
Name - 0. No given name
Pink Slime lake grabs at Ray's feet.
Spook - 5. Giant river of goo that grabs at you. Not a bad spook but not overly scary.
Danger - 3. 3 of the boys jump into the lake later and are pretty much unharmed just rattled.
Transform - 8. A bunch of men now being a lake of goo is a pretty big change.
Name - 2. It is referred to as “pink slime” and that is underwhelming.
The Scoleri Brothers! What great ghosts. My favourite in the original series.
Spook - 9. Dudes strapped to electric chairs to haunt the man that killed them, plus a ghoulish face and glowing eyes. These guys are horrifying.
Danger - 8. Creating explosions, lifting people into the air, sending electric shocks throughout the room, these guys are a real dangerous combo.
Transform - 7. They are certainly more ghoulish then they would have been in life, plus the lightning and glowing eyes and translucency. Still clearly human though.
Name - 10. The Scoleri Brothers. Just a great name. Rolls of the tongue and makes them sound like villains.
Marathon Ghost. This guy must have really loved running.
Spook - 3. I can see freaking out if a ghost sped by me while I was on a run, but he doesn’t actively try to scare anyone.
Danger - 1. No real danger, he just pushes by all the other runners like a jerk.
Transform - 4. Pretty close to normal guy but see through and speedy.
Name - 0. No name given.
Slimer returns more vomit inducing than ever.
Spook - 5. Increased through more grossness.
Danger - 2. Still a passive boy.
Transform - 8. Why did they make him more grotesque and slimy in this movie. I hate the look of this man.
Name - 1. Slimer. Still not doing it for me.
Ghost Toaster. We Stan.
Spook - 1. Dancing Toaster. We Stan, not fear.
Danger - 2. You could burn yourself on a dancing toaster.
Transformation - 1. Again the toaster is possessed and is not the ghost itself.
Name - 0. No name given.
Pink Slime Tub. Sigourney's own home is her worst nightmare.
Spook - 7. Gotta be a seven at least. Sneaks up on my girl Sigourney and she is real frazzled.
Danger - 5. Bends a ceramic tub. That is some man eating strength there.
Transform - 8. Same level of goo lake.
Name - 2. Pink Slime.
The Pike Heads. Band name called it.
Spook - 8. These are pretty freaky. And they appear and disappear instantly which is real scary.
Danger - 1. They pose no real threat, only wishing to scare off the busters.
Transform - 2. Rotted heads on pikes aren’t a big transformation from real heads.
Name - 0. No given name.
The Old New York Central, City of Albany. Or, Ghost Train. CHOO CHOO.
Spook - 8. Train choo choo-ing right toward you is a scary thought, and a ghost train is a classic.
Danger - 1. Runs right through Winston and doesn’t hurt him.
Transform - 4. Transparent and can appear out of no where.
Name - 4. I don't know much about trains but this name seems like a middle of the road, or should I say... middle of the TRACK one! (Please clap - Jeb Bush)
What. What is this thing? This another one of Ghostbusters' weird dinosaurs? This a monster ghost? I got no idea about this weird Spiderman.
Spook - 7. Scary looking spider thing.
Danger - 2. Justs throws some popcorn and paper and stuff. No attacks.
Transform. - Seriously what do you want from me Ghostbusters? Is this another Bleeeh mode of a man, or is this the ghost of an actual spider monster? I do not know. 10. It is a 10.
Name - 0. No name given.
Another favorite of mine, the reanimated Possum Fur Coat.
Spook - 6. They are literally just possums but possums are scary.
Danger - 3. Again, just a lot of possums.
Transform - 3. LOTS OF POSSUMS. They are all attached though.
Name - Okay so apparently they are fitches. And I found a coat that looks just like it called “Beautiful Full Length Fitch German Sable Fur Coat”, and that name is a 3. It is also 330 dollars second hand so this lady is rolling in it.
Dino Ogre Ghost, or to Ghostbusters, just a normal dinosaur.
Spook - 7. Scary looking and large, but the size means it isn’t going to sneak up on anyone.
Danger - 3. Does no damage or attack, but is large and seems as though it could.
Transform - 5. Orange and see through dino of the GB world.
Name - 0. No name given, however when we see this guy, only a few minutes later at the police station we hear an officer talking about dinosaur ghosts. Seeing as this, along with the Pterodactyl of GB1 is the closest thing we see to dinosaurs, we can assume this is close to what they are talking about.
The Titanic and its passengers. Horde of sea ghosties.
Spook - 5. Startling by the amount of ghosties and size of the Titanic.
Danger - 1. The ghosts don’t even look angry.
Transform - 4. Titanic is broke and the people are green. Why are sea related ghosts always green?
Name - 7. Everybody knows the Titanic, but not everyone is afraid of it, so it doesn't do it's job well.
Final and largest possession, the Statue of Liberty.
Spook - 0. The kids go crazy for the Statue of Liberty.
Danger - 9. Stomps a car to bits and smashes through concentrated evil.
Transform - 1. Goo possessed inanimate object.
Name - 8. Statue of Liberty is a good weapon against Concentrated Evil band name called it.
Slimer is redeemed slightly through enlisting with the Ghostbusters and putting on a bus driver's hat.
Spook - 2. He becomes charming with a little hat.
Danger - 4. Higher now as he can drive, and as my driving instructor taught me, “everytime you drive, you are operating a deadly weapon.”
Transform - 7. He gains a hat but now also looks less gross. Transform goes down 1.
Name - 2. Bus Driver Slimer now sounds a little better.
Vigo, the Scourge of Carpathia, the Sorrow of Moldavia

Main villain of Ghostbusters 2 actually is a ghost! Vigo is the Scourge of Carpathia, the Sorrow of Moldavia, and the Man of Many Faces.
Spook - 7. Mans has some scary faces and noises, but does not often try to scare.
Danger - 6. Lots of powers. Possession, lightning magic, telekinesis, immunity to the proton packs, he would be a 9 if he wasn’t weak to positive vibes. If he waited another 30 years? Undefeatable.
Transform - 7. He is a painting, he is a face on a baby, he is a demon man, he is a snapchat filter. What can this man not be?
Name. 9 Vigo is cool enough, but the Scourge of Carpathia? The Sorrow of Moldavia? 9 outta 10.

Of course thought GB2 is not perfect, and has a "ghost" that we will not rank intentionally. This is a man I referred to as "Baby Nabbing Stretch Armstrong" in my notes. This man however is no ghost. It is Janosz, the creepy Head Art Restorer, and seems to have been given these powers by Vigo for a short amount of time to capture Oscar. We will not be ranking this man as Janosz is very clearly still alive even when he is hit with the Goo mixed with the proton pack, while Vigo is destroyed. But that ends every ghost seen in both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. I hope you have enjoyed.
