Skeletons are a favorite of mine being animate bones held together by magic no need for skin or muscle on these boys. Dating back to medieval times, or even further, seen within the Book of Ezekiel in the Valley of Dry Bones. A basic skeleton now can either be fragile, or quite durable, but is always animated by magic. Because of this, skeletons are usually somewhat more dexterous fighters, using weapons. While some can speak, and some cannot, we will assume a basic skeleton cannot, and that the magic is limited to making them animate. While I will be giving a basic skeleton a weapon, we will assume their fighting abilities are simply on the level of a normal human, and that they are wearing no armor, and can sustain broken bones. Basic skeletons are somewhat scorned in film, but are used as enemies in a variety of current games, including the Dark Souls franchise, and Dungeons and Dragons. So how does my best boy basic skeleton stack up?
Basic skeletons are not that spooky. They aren’t going to be able to sneak up on you in most environments, and usually will instead lie in wait in places like old spooky castles or graveyards. While a skeleton suddenly coming to life can be frightening, their lack of environmental adaptation means if you are someplace that a skeleton shouldn’t be, you will see them coming from a mile away.
Basic skeletons are the most deadly of the basic trio though, they can dodge, they can run, and they use weapons, meaning not only can they attack, but they can battle… averagely.
No real transformation from basic skeletons though, they are just animated bones.
Not too good of a name either. Just what is literally inside you. However that does beg the question. Can your bones be animated while still within you? Will it take over your movements but not your mind? Would it rip the bones from your body? Who knows.
While I love skeletons, the basic ones just don't stack up. statistically. Skeletons are impressive in their natural environments, but take them out and they are just an average battle boy.
